Use this guide to create a contact form for your site. Please be aware that with GDPR rulings, you're responsible for the personal data you collect through this form.

1. Create a contact form

We recommend using one of the following services to create and manage your contact form.

2. Privacy Policy & GDPR

The General Data Protections Regulation (GDPR) is a ruling to protect the data of citizens within the EU. GDPR is intended to provide citizens with a greater level of control over their personal data. GDPR has implications for all citizens of the EU and businesses operating within the EU, regardless of physical location. If you offer goods or services to, or request personal information from, citizens of the EU, you will be subject to the penalties imposed by the GDPR. In addition, if you hold personal data of EU citizens then you can be held accountable under the GDPR.

We suggest you add a privacy policy to your Fabrik site, and make sure your viewers see it before they submit their personal details to you through your contact form.

We have created a privacy policy for you to copy, add and edit to include your details. Use this as follows:

a.) Copy the privacy policy text
b.) create a new page called Privacy Policy, with the slug privacy-policy
c.) Edit in your specific personal or company details
d.) Save the new page and make sure it's set to Published.

3. Link to your Privacy Policy

You need to ensure your viewers can access your privacy policy, so you'll need to add a notice on your site that points to your new privacy policy.

Option 1: Contact Page
Copy this text into your contact page and edit as you need to:

Please review our Privacy Policy before you submit this form for details on how we use and protect your personal data. By submitting this form you understand and consent to our policy and it's terms.

Alternatively, here's the HTML version if you have trouble copying that.

<p>Please review our <a href="/pages/privacy-policy" target="_blank">Privacy Policy</a> before you submit this form for details on how we use and protect your personal data. By submitting this form you understand and consent to our policy and it's terms.</p>

Option 2: Footer

You can edit your footer's copyright line in the Settings area of Fabrik. Copy this HTML into your copyright line, wherever makes sense to you:

Please review our <a href="/pages/privacy-policy" target="_blank">Privacy Policy</a>.
